Plumbing Leaks & Water Damage

Plumbing leaks & Water Damage

Plumbing leaks and other leaks on your property can be very costly for policyholders.

These claims are delicate because the leak needs to be stopped and the property must be properly dried out. It is imperative that we can document these claims as soon as possible. We must also report it on the policyholder’s behalf. When a claim is reported, it is done so on a recorded line in which the insurance company will be asking questions that are designed to use the information you provide against the policyholder. Sometimes the policyholder will make assumptions that will not benefit them, and the claim will get denied.

Filing A Plumbing Damage Claim

It is important that no assumptions are made during this delicate time. Also, during the beginning stages, we must document the water damage. In many cases, the property will need to be dried out and water extraction will need to take place. During the water extraction process, they will typically remove flooring, cabinetry, drywall, plaster, trim and more. It is always best if we can document the damage prior to water extraction or mold remediation. If mold is present, mold remediation may be necessary. All policies are different when it comes to mold. Some have different limits, and others exclude mold altogether. Therefore, we need to evaluate the damage before it is reported and come up with the best way to properly present the claim.
